Sometimes less is more.
But when it comes to hand quilting, I seem to always lean toward MORE!
After reading all the suggestions left on my November post, I started making a simple, triple diamond shaped grid. I was having trouble getting the spacing right, a process that involved drawing the grid with a wash away pen, hating it, spritzing it off, etc. While I was waiting for the quilt to dry, I started cleaning off the bookshelf and found a book on Sashiko.
Mmmmm. So pretty. It makes me smile every time I look at it.
While there is far more quilting than is really needed where the applique is detailed, it is the perfect answer for those big, blank white spots.
This is my #1 priority project for 2013.
As requested....here's the whole top before the quilting began.
love your quilting pattern - would love to see a photo of the whole quilt!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Karen, the quilting is wonderful and I also would love to see the whole quilt. Is it from a pattern or your own design?
ReplyDeletePost updated with photo per request. The individual elements are from Esther Aliu's Hearts Desire.
